I hadn’t been to the Zoo in Giza (City next to Cairo, where the Pyramids are!) since Primary school, even though my Uni was right opposite to it for 4 entire years! Only a couple of days ago I grabbed my stuff and decided to go for a quick look 🙂
I found this traditional old wooden window while walking around the Coptic area in Old Cairo. It was a window on the side of the nunnery (the place where nuns stay) of the Coptic St. George Monastery.
This old lantern is found hanging, among many others, from the ceiling of the first and oldest mosque in Africa. Amr Ibn Al Aas Mosque, located in Old Cairo, is the first mosque built in Egypt and thus the whole of Africa, around 642 A.D.
